Client: Vacuum Engineering Services
Project Delivered: May 2010
Contract: Webstar Plus
Brief:
Worldwide supplier of industrial leak testing machines, Vacuum Engineering Services Ltd,
needed their web presence to work harder for them.
Their original, flat HTML website was not producing leads or generating sales. A lack of calls to
action, and unchanging, unoptimised content simply wasn’t drawing the attention of domestic or
international clients. With the downturn in some of their client’s business (particularly the
automotive sector) a new, more proactive approach was required to gaining customers via the Internet.
Solution:
Rija Group were tasked with providing a dynamic, optimised online presence with the express aim of generating new business leads. Every page of the new website features a different aspect of Vacuum Engineering’s business – and each page is optimised to draw traffic from worldwide Internet search engines.
The site is built using a CMS (Content Management System) which allows the client to make updates themselves (industry news etc.) We have provided a limited login account which will allow them to edit certain parts of the site, whilst ensuring that if an error is made, no major damage can be done! Rija Group also keep up-to-date backups of the site and database so if an error is made, we can fix it with minimum fuss.
Vacuum Engineering Services are proud to have designed and built over 500 industrial leak test machines, so the site has been made with rotating banners to showcase the transition from client brief, through CAD development, and finally delivery, installation and training on the new machines. This is illustrated using the original CAD drawings and photographs of the finished machines, with pages of technical information which will convey meaning to their prospective clients, while not giving away any trade secrets to their competitors. Every page on the new website features a prominent call to action in the form of a simple contact form – visitors to the website simply need to fill in their name and email address, select a general topic in which they are interested, and then optionally type in a comment or enquiry.
The form is user friendly and will politely request that the name and email address are correctly filled in, automatically re-filling any fields which were correctly input, so as to not annoy the user by asking them to type in their details again if a mistake is made. This is standard practice with all forms on Rija Group’s websites.
In addition to the contact form being in the same position on every page, Vacuum Engineering Service’s telephone numbers are displayed prominently in the site header on every page, along with their email address (for clients wishing to send a more detailed enquiry with documents attached, for example,) and there is also a permanent tab on every page which shows a small location map, which when clicked gives a larger Google map which can be used to get directions for people visiting Vacuum Engineering.
Usability features highly on the list of features, and this is highlighted with the ‘Application Finder’ which is a simple-to-use table, designed to let prospective clients quickly identify their needs, which are then reinforced by clicking on icons to navigate to the relevant area of the website. This table simplifies what would otherwise be a daunting task, as there are many different types and sizes of leak, and also a great variety of leak test methods.
Ongoing SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is used to make the site as visible as possible on the Internet – by monitoring the traffic coming to the website and analysing the keywords and search terms used to find the site, we are constantly refining the site’s content to maximise Vacuum Engineering’s ROI (Return On Investment.)
In the face of a global downturn in business, getting your website right is essential.
